Wrestling Dusty Sloan, Ashland University Director of Athletic Communications

Barrett, Morris Place Fourth At 45th Midwest Classic

The No. RV Ashland University wrestling team concluded action at the 45th Annual Midwest Classic on Sunday (Dec. 15) in Indianapolis, Ind., with a pair of Eagle grapplers finishing in fourth place.
 
Junior Nate Barrett, the No. 10-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division II at 165 pounds, took fourth place in Indy following a 4-2 weekend with a major decision.
 
At 197 pounds, senior Kaine Morris finished the tournament at 6-2 with two pins, two technical falls and a major decision.
 
As a team, Ashland ended in 15th place (61.5 team points) in the 43-team field – its best showing at the Midwest Classic since 2021 (11th). Wisconsin-Parkside won with 147 team points, followed by Central Oklahoma (135) and Glenville State (127).

The first action of the second semester on Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. at Kentucky Wesleyan with Lake Erie.
