Ashland University's men's golf team played 36 holes on Sunday (Sept. 4) at Grand Valley State's Arendsen Invitational, finishing Day 1 in a tie for fifth place in the 12-team field.
The Eagles ended the day at 301-303—604. The host Lakers are leading the field at 285-285—570, followed by Findlay (295-286—581) and Northwood (299-298—597).
WHAT HAPPENED
- Senior Logan Thomas is the Eagles' pacesetter after two rounds, and is sitting in a tie for 15th place individually at 74-75—149. He had two birdies on the day.
- Another senior, Andrew Kolar, tied for 19th at 71-79—150, and had four birdies, all in the first round.
- Ashland's youngsters in the starting lineup on Sunday were freshman Carter Mishler (tied for 26th, 77-75—152, four birdies), sophomore Matthew McMullen (tied for 48th, 79-77—156, three birdies), and freshman Dylan Dunn (tied for 53rd, 81-76—157, two birdies).
- Playing as individuals for AU were sophomore Tyler Gillespie (tied for 53rd, 78-79—157, six birdies) and senior Nick Stehle (82-withdrew).

Ashland's men will play the second and final day of the GVSU Arendsen Invitational on Monday (Sept. 5).
