By the margin of a single stroke, Ashland University's women's golf team finished in a tie for second place on Tuesday (Sept. 20) at the 16-team Champions of Women's Golf, hosted by Ohio Dominican.
The Eagle women ended the two-day event at 307-318—625, one shot behind team medalist Northern Michigan (303-321—624). AU tied the host Panthers (308-317—625) for second place.
This is the AU women's highest team finish at a tournament since winning its own Ashland Eagle Invitational last fall.
WHAT HAPPENED
- Freshman Klaira Paramore had the Eagles' best round of the day and score of the tournament, finishing in a tie for third place individually at 74-77—151. She had birdies on holes No. 5 and 18 on Tuesday.
- Sophomore Grace Grant also had two birdies on Tuesday, and finished in a tie for 12th place at 78-78—156. Junior Mailiis Simovart tied for 20th and ended the tourney at 78-81—159, and sophomore Emma Conway did the same and finished at 77-82—159.
- Rounding out the Ashland effort were junior Maddy Klinger (tied for 36th, 79-84—163) and sophomore Lindsay Mayo (tied for 43rd, 84-82—166).
UP NEXT
Ashland's women will play host to the Ashland Eagle Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 24-25) at the Ashland Golf Club.
