Another strong round on Tuesday (Sept. 20) at Findlay's Doc Spragg Fall Invitational kept Ashland University's men's golf team in fifth place to end the 17-team event.
The Eagle men finished at 288-284—286—858 – the lowest 54-hole total for the program since the start of the 1996-97 season. That also broke the previous mark since 1996-97, which was set last week at Malone (870).
WHAT HAPPENED
- Senior Logan Thomas shot up the individual leaderboard on Tuesday, finishing with a 69, an eagle on No. 1, three birdies and in a tie for 18th place at 70-77-69—216.
- Ashland's best individual showing for the entire tourney came from senior Andrew Kolar, who ended tied for seventh place at 69-70-72—211 - breaking his own low 54-hole score mark for the program since 1996-97. Kolar had four birdies on Tuesday.
- Following Kolar and Thomas was freshman Carter Mishler, who tied for 33rd at 74-74-71—219 and had three Tuesday birdies.
- A pair of sophomores – Tyler Gillespie (tied for 43rd, 79-66-75—220, one Tuesday birdie) and Matthew McMullen (tied for 56th, 75-74-74—223, two Tuesday birdies) rounded out the Eagle effort.
- Grand Valley State won the team title at 282-277-281—840, followed by the host Oilers (283-278-281—845), Wayne State (282-278-290—850), and Missouri-St. Louis (277-283—291—851).
- The Lakers' Charles Delong was the individual medalist at 14-under-par 68-65-69—202.
