Hilt Helps Eagles Stop West Virginia Wesleyan, 8-3

            The Ashland University baseball team raised its record to 4-1 on Tuesday (Mar. 6) with an 8-3 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan in Auburndale, Fla.

            Senior righty Aaron Hilt (Richmond, Ohio/Richmond Edison) tossed the first five innings and gained the win. He struck out six.  Senior right-hander Joe Malfara (Port Clinton, Ohio) worked the final four innings and earned the save.

            Junior first baseman Austin Erb (Mechanicsville, Va./Hanover) was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI.  Junior catcher John Broll (Mississagua, ONT/Genesee C.C.) was 2-for-4.

            Ashland broke open the game with a four-run second inning.

            The Eagles will play Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday (Mar. 7, 11 a.m.).
