The AU men's soccer team is desperately seeking momentum. Right now, that ingredient is as difficult to find as an address for Big Foot.
Sunday (Oct. 21) at Northwood, the Eagles fell behind early and lost, 4-1. AU is 0-4-1 in its last five contests. On the year, the Eagles are 7-6-2, 5-6-1 in the GLIAC. Northwood is 8-5-1 and 7-4.
The Timberwolves grabbed a one-goal lead when James DeCosemo scored at 11:52. Carter Brochu scored at 29:12 to put the Eagles in a 2-0 hole.
AU rallied when Guilherme Karaoglan (Santos, Brazil/Bethel University) answered with a goal at 29:51. The Eagles trailed at the break, 2-1.
Mitchell Brent scored twice in the second half to seal the verdict for the 'Wolves. Shots were few and far between for the Eagles. Northwood rolled up a 28-4 advantage in attempts.
This was the second meeting between the Eagles and 'Wolves this season. On Sept. 21 at Ferguson Field, the Eagles won, 2-1.
The Eagles will look to reverse their fortunes this coming Friday (Oct. 26, 7 p.m.) when they host Urbana in a non-conference tilt. The final regular-season game will be played at Tiffin next Sunday (Oct. 28, 1:30 p.m.).
