AU Men, Women See Vast Improvement At All-Ohio Meet

Ashland University's men's and women's cross country teams closed out September with their second meet of the 2018 season, the All-Ohio Collegiate Cross Country Championships, on Saturday (Sept. 29) afternoon.

The Eagle men had eight personal-best finishes in the 8K race, as they finished 18th (503 points) in the 39-team field. Ashland's first seven finishers all collected PRs – junior Kyle Shively (57th, 25:36.2), sophomores Tyler Sievert (79th, 25:52.8), Nathaniel Redden (105th, 26:15.7), Nick Reimund (138th, 26:46.8), Duvan Bautista-Catalan (146th, 26:54.3) and Connor Ingram (161st, 27:08.5); and junior Matt Morris (198th, 27:57.9).

Sophomores Ian Johnson (201st, 28:00.0) and Sam Shockey (203rd, 28:02.1, PR) finished up the AU men's showing.

On the women's side, Ashland placed 23rd (666 team points) in the 38-team field. Junior Johannah Stefanek (101st place) paced the Eagle women with a 6K PR time of 23:45.9, while freshman Abby Moser was 139th with a collegiate PR of her own of 24:22.1.

Junior Haylee Zigan (152nd, 24:37.0) also PRed, as did sophomores Tracy Morgan (163rd, 24:47.1) and Lexi Butterbaugh (186th, 25:03.5). Sophomore Maureen McKeown (217th, 25:47.6), freshman Destini Oler (224th, 26:01.8, PR), sophomore Makayla Wagner (272nd, 27:58.2) and freshman Taylor Anderson (281st, 29:09.4, PR) rounded out the AU effort.

The Eagle men and women will next compete on Oct. 12 at the Wilmington Invitational.
