Ashland University women's tennis beat Davenport, 5-4, on Saturday (Oct. 21), clinching a spot in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the first time since 2013.
"Today was an amazing accomplishment for this team," head coach Lexi Bolesky said. "Our attitude and effort really paid off. All of the girls fought hard."
However, singles wins from freshman Camille Ringot at No. 2, freshman Anna Hart in the fourth slot, Allison Brooks in the fifth and junior Natalie Keron in the sixth sealed the deal. Ringot and Hart both played three sets in their victories.
"Today was a great day," Ringot said. "I am so proud of my team. We're excited for next weekend."
The conference tournament begins Friday (Oct. 27) and extends to Sunday (Oct. 29) at the Greater Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.
