Bolesky Pleased With Eagles' Effort In Shortened Match

The Ashland University women's tennis team was part of the way through the singles portion of its match against Catawba in Hilton Head Island, S.C., on Monday (March 5) before it got cancelled due to rain.

The Indians had a 2-1 edge over the Eagles after doubles. 

AU sophomore Natalie Keron and Elizabeth Kidd won at No. 2 doubles for the second day in a row. The score was 9-7. 

"I am very proud of the effort and attitude put forth by the girls," first-year Ashland head coach Lexi Bolesky said.

Senior Meghann Fitzpatrick and freshman Brianna Brdicka almost pulled out a win in the No. 1 spot, falling 9-7.

Sophomore Kaitlin Snider had a, 6-2, 2-1, lead at No. 6 singles before the match was cancelled. Brdicka also led her match, 1-0. 

"Today was our best showing to date," Bolesky said. "We are looking forward to improving our tennis while enjoying spring break on Hilton Head Island."

UP NEXT: The Eagles will face Chowan at 9:30 a.m. and Division I Coastal Carolina at a time to be determined on Thursday (March 9).
