Ashland Women’s Trio Earn 2016 All-Ohio Honors

On Tuesday (Dec. 20), three Ashland University women's soccer players earned All-Ohio recognition from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA).

Senior defender Jessica Brown is a first-team OCSA NCAA Division II/NAIA Academic All-Ohio selection. On the field in 2016, Brown had a goal and an assist in 17 games, and was the veteran leader of a defense which allowed just 16 goals.

Earlier this fall, Brown earned College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Division II Academic All-America second team and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, along with All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honorable mention laurels.

Both sophomore midfielder Lauren Gokey and sophomore forward Deijah Swihart earned OCSA Division II/NAIA second-team awards.

Swihart, also a second-team All-Midwest Region choice by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) as well as first-team All-GLIAC, posted 11 goals, two assists and 24 points this fall. Gokey, also a first-team All-GLIAC choice, had three goals and three assists for nine points in 2016.
