Ashland University women's soccer sophomore forward Deijah Swihart, the 2015 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, became the first Eagle since 2014 to win the GLIAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday (Oct. 11) morning.

Swihart earned the award, recognizing her performance from Oct. 4-10, following two games in which she notched four goals and one assist.

She helped the Eagles (7-1-3 overall, 4-1-1 GLIAC) win games over conference opponents Findlay and Ohio Dominican by a combined score of 7-2, moving Ashland into a tie for second in the GLIAC.

Swihart leads AU in goals (seven) and points (16). Her seven goals place her sixth in the GLIAC, and match her total from her freshman season. Her 16 points rank her seventh in the GLIAC.

Junior Morgan Bittengle won the weekly award as a freshman in 2014, and junior goalkeeper Courtney Barker was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 6.

The Eagles have two home games coming up on Friday (Oct. 14) against sixth-place Saginaw Valley (8-4-1, 2-3-1) and Sunday (Oct. 16) versus fifth-place Northwood (6-5, 3-3) at Ferguson Field.
