Eight of 14 Ashland University wrestlers placed at the Ohio Intercollegiate Open in Cleveland on Sunday (Nov. 13).
AU redshirt senior Michael Labry, winning all three of his matches, placed first in the 133-pound bracket. Labry, the top Eagle finisher (fifth) at the Eastern Michigan Open on Nov. 5, beat wrestlers from Lake Erie, Findlay and Pittsburgh on Sunday.
Eagles redshirt junior Luke Cramer (197 pounds) and sophomore Christian Price (freshman/sophomore 174) both came in second in their respective brackets. Cramer went 3-1, defeating opponents from Ohio State, Tiffin and Case Western. Price won matches against wrestlers from Tiffin and Notre Dame College.
Also placing for the Eagles were redshirt freshman Dylan Shockley (eighth, freshman/sophomore 125), freshman Alex Gordy (eighth, freshman/sophomore 133), redshirt freshman Bret Romanzak (fifth, freshman/sophomore 165), redshirt senior Brent Fickel (fifth, 149) and redshirt junior J.J. Diven (eighth, 133).
UP NEXT: Ashland will head to the Findlay Open on Saturday (Nov. 19). The meet starts at 9 a.m.
