Eighteen Ashland University wrestlers competed at the Eastern Michigan Open on Saturday (Nov. 5), and two placed at the event that included Division I competition.
Redshirt senior Michael Labry finished fifth, scoring 11 points for the Eagles in the 133-pound bracket. Labry went 5-1, defeating wrestlers from Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Michigan State and Purdue.
Sophomore Colton Ullman placed eighth at 157, scoring 7.5 points for Ashland. He went 3-2, beating wrestlers from Ohio University, Ohio State and Ashland.
Also scoring points for the Eagles was sophomore Jerry Fenner III (133 pounds), sophomore Chandler Minnard (141), freshman Gary Byas III (149), freshman Garrett Hall (157), freshman Bret Romanzak (165), senior Brenden Stanley (174) and sophomore Christian Price (174).
