Ashland University head coach Josh Hutchens and freshman 133-pounder Jerry Fenner III have earned 2015-16 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference wrestling honors, as announced by the conference on Wednesday (Feb. 24).
Hutchens is the GLIAC Co-Coach of the Year, along with Findlay's Shawn Nelson, while Fenner is the conference's Freshman of the Year.
Hutchens guided the Eagles through an injury-riddled season, leading them from seventh in Super Region II earlier in the campaign to second in the region in this week's rankings.
Fenner is half of the Eagles' freshman 133-pound tag-team, along with Chandler Minnard, and is 11-6 with two pins and 24 takedowns through the regular season.
Redshirt freshman Sebastian Vidika (125 pounds) and senior Joe Brandt (197) earned first-team All-GLIAC laurels, while Eagle second-teamers are Fenner, junior Bobby Mason (141), senior Zeb Beam (157) and junior Jordan Murphy (174).
The Eagles will compete in the NCAA Division II Super Regional on Friday (Feb. 26) and Saturday (Feb. 27) in Indianapolis, Ind.
