Eagle Women Are Unanimous No. 1 In Latest WBCA Poll

Heading into the holidays, Ashland University's women's basketball team continues to reside atop the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II Coaches' Poll.

Ashland received all 23 first-place votes in the first regular-season poll of the 2017-18 campaign, released on Tuesday (Nov. 21) afternoon. The Eagles, the defending NCAA Division II national champions, have started the new season at 4-0 to extend their current winning streak to 41 games – the fourth-best in D-II women's basketball history.

This is the 71st time Ashland has been in the WBCA poll, and the 28th time as the poll's top-ranked team. The Eagles have been in the poll 36 times in a row and have been No. 1 15 times in a row.

Ashland's next two games are in the St. Mary's Thanksgiving Classic in San Antonio, Texas – vs. No. 8 Lubbock Christian on Friday (Nov. 24) at 4 p.m. and vs. home-standing St. Mary's on Saturday (Nov. 25) at 6 p.m.
