For the eighth time as an Eagle, Ashland University junior forward Andi Daugherty has earned the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division Player of the Week award.
Daugherty was named the 2016-17 Week 5 GLIAC South Player of the Week on Monday (Dec. 12) afternoon. In home wins against No. 24-ranked Saginaw Valley State and Wayne State last week, Daugherty posted 32 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and six steals while hitting 13-of-19 (68.4 percent) from the field, 1-of-1 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 from the free-throw line in just 44 minutes.
Also over the weekend, Daugherty (1,095 career points) passed both Alyssa Miller and DeAndria Bethune and moved into 16th place on Ashland's all-time scoring list.
In the first 10 games of 2016-17 for the No. 2-ranked Eagles, Daugherty is averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game while hitting 57.3 percent from the floor (fourth-best in the conference), 31.3 percent from 3-point range and 71.0 percent from the foul line.
Ashland (10-0 overall, 4-0 GLIAC) will play a non-conference game on Wednesday (Dec. 14) at 6 p.m. against Notre Dame College (2-5).
