A 3-0 start to the 2016-17 season has allowed Ashland University's women's basketball team to move up two spots in the latest Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II coaches' poll, released on Tuesday (Nov. 22).

This is the Eagles' highest ranking in the WBCA poll since March 8, 2016, when they also were No. 3. It also ties for AU's best national ranking since it finished No. 1 after winning the NCAA D-II national championship in 2013.

This marks the 54th time Ashland has been in the Top 25 poll, all since the 1995-96 season. It is the 38th time the Eagles have been in the Top 10, and the 31st time they have been in the Top 5. It is the 19th straight poll in which AU has appeared.

Ashland is one of three Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams in the latest Top 25 poll, along with Grand Valley State (No. 19) and Saginaw Valley State (No. 23).

The Eagles will play their first 2016-17 road game on Wednesday (Nov. 23) at 5 p.m. against Gannon.

2016-17 WBCA TOP 25 POLL RANKINGS: Fifth (preseason), third (Nov. 22).
