Ashland University's men's indoor track and field team continues to maintain its stronghold on the No. 1 position in the U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) rankings.
In the latest edition of the rankings released on Tuesday (Feb. 21) afternoon, the Eagle men are at No. 1 in NCAA Division II for the fifth week in a row. Ashland has 201.83 computer points, and has widened its advantage over No. 2 Adams State (176.26) to a more than 25 points.
This is the sixth time Ashland's men have been the No. 1 indoor team in Division II this decade. They are in the top five in the country for the 49th time since the start of the 2009-10 season.
Through Feb. 19, the following Ashland men's individuals and relays are in the top five in the country:
- 1st - Myles Pringle, sophomore, 400-meter run (46.11 seconds)
- 1st - Daniel Roberts, junior, weight throw (22.20 meters/72-feet-10)
- 2nd - Jordan Crayon, senior, weight throw (20.86 meters/68feet-5¼)
- 2nd - Pringle, high jump (2.17 meters/7-feet-1½)
- 3rd - Elijah Talk, junior, shot put (18.13 meters/59-feet-5¾)
- 4th - Jason Zahn, senior, shot put (18.03 meters/59-feet-2)
- 4th - 4x400 relay - Columbus Millet, senior; Devin Snowden, sophomore; Paul Murray, freshman; Pringle (3:12.59)
- 5th - Alex Hill, freshman, weight throw (20.36 meters/66-feet-9¾)
For the Ashland women, senior Megan Tomei is ranked No. 2 in the country in the shot put (15.91 meters/52-feet-2½) and No. 4 in the weight throw (20.21 meters/66-feet-3¾).
The Eagle men and women will compete at the 2017 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, Saturday (Feb. 25) and Sunday (Feb. 26) in Findlay.
