Ten Ashland University men's and women's outdoor track and field athletes have been announced as NCAA Division II All-Americans by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Junior Jason Zahn earned first-team awards in both the shot put and discus throw. Also earning first-team status for the AU men were juniors Jordan Crayon and Bryn Campbell in the hammer throw, sophomore Elijah Talk in the shot put and freshman Myles Pringle (400-meter dash), who also is a second-team All-American in the high jump.
Sophomore Clayton Jury earned second-team status in the hammer throw.
On the women's side, seniors Lauren Ellsworth (100 dash) and Jamie Sindelar (shot put) are first-team All-Americans, while junior Megan Tomei (shot put) and sophomore Irene Skinner (400 dash) are second-teamers.
According to the USTFCCCA, student-athletes earned first-team All-American honors by virtue of finishing among the top eight in their events, including as a member of a relay, at this past weekend's NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Bradenton, Fla. Second-team honors were bestowed upon those finishing ninth through 12th. Ninth- and 10th-place relay teams also earn the distinction.
