The official participation lists for the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships were released on Tuesday (May 17) afternoon, and Ashland University's men and women have combined to send 12 individuals and a relay to Bradenton, Fla., May 26-28.
On the men's side, AU will send three hammer throwers. Juniors Jordan Crayon (66.88 meters/219-feet-5) and Bryn Campbell (65.51 meters/214-feet-11) rank 3-4 in the country, and sophomore Clayton Jury (63.36 meters/207-feet-10) has the seventh-best throw in Division II.
Both senior David Knack (5,000- and 10,000-meter run) and freshman Myles Pringle (400 dash and high jump) also will represent Ashland in two individual events. Senior Eric Thompkins has qualified in the 200 dash, and he will join junior Brandon Freeman and freshmen Pringle and Brandon Wilson on the 4x100 relay team.
On the women's side, senior Jamie Sindelar enters nationals with the top shot put mark in Division II (16.99 meters/55-feet-9). That distance also is the ninth-best in the history of D-II competition.
Junior Megan Tomei will compete in both the shot put (seventh, 15.27 meters/50-feet-1¼) and the hammer throw, while sophomore Irene Skinner (400 dash, eighth, 54.19 seconds) and senior Lauren Ellsworth (100 dash) will go in the sprints.
EAGLES 9TH, 21ST GOING INTO NATIONALS
In the final regular-season NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field National Team Rankings, announced Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), Ashland's men are ranked No. 9 and the Eagle women are ranked No. 21.
The AU men have been in the top 10 seven times this season, and the AU women have been in the top 25 six times in 2016.
