Ashland University senior Shatora Lewis is the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's Women's Field Athlete of the Week.
Lewis won the women's weight throw Saturday (Jan. 24) at the SPIRE North Coast Indoor Track & Field Open, turning in a top effort of 68-feet-3¼. That mark is an NCAA Division II automatic national qualifying effort.
Also Saturday, Lewis was second to junior teammate Jamie Sindelar in the women's shot put, an event in which Lewis already has a provisional national qualifying effort of 47-feet-10 from the Kent State Golden Flash Gala on Dec. 5.
Ashland's indoor track and field teams will compete this week in both the Findlay Open (Jan. 30) and the Penn State National meet (Jan. 30-31).
