Ashland University senior Zac Ball is this week's U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II National Male Athlete of the Week.
The weekly awards in NCAA Division I, II and III, as well as the National Junior College Athletic Association, were announced Tuesday (Jan. 13).
Ball earned an automatic national qualifying mark on Friday (Jan. 9) at the Ohio State Buckeye Classic, as his top effort of 71-feet-10 in the men's weight throw also is the top mark in men's Division II competition so far this season. That effort also would be the third-best showing in Division I.
This will be Ball's third consecutive NCAA Division II national indoor meet. He was the national runner-up in the weight throw last season.
Ashland's men's and women's indoor track and field teams will compete on Friday (Jan. 16) at the Northwest Ohio Invitational in Findlay.
