Track Claims Five First Place Finishes At All-Ohio Meet

AU's Elijah Owens was all in at Saturday's (Apr. 12) All-Ohio Meet at the University of Cincinnati.

Owens finished first in the 110 hurdles (14.33) and 400 hurdles (52.11) and was part of the 4X4 relay that was first in 3:10.21. He completed his day by competing on the 4X1 relay that finished as the runner-up in 40.96.

Ashland also got a first place finish from Donald Duke in the shot put. His winning mark measured 61-7.75. Macy Caldwell led the field in the heptathlon. She won with 5069 points.

The runners with Owens in the 4X4 and 4X1 were Cory Lamar, Brandon Freeman and Jacob Cook.

Kyle Steinhauser was second in the discus (169-11) and Mack Taylor was second in the hammer (188-0). Jacob Green was third in the decathlon (6793).

For the women, Cynthia Watt was second in the hammer (201-10) and Jennifer Foster was second in the high jump (5-7.75). Jamie Sindelar was third in the shot put (49-10).

The AU men finished fourth with 103 points. Akron had 205 points to win the team title. Cincinnati (138) was second and Miami (129.5) was third.

The Ashland women were sixth with 56 points. Akron won the crown with 199 points and Cincinnati (109.5) was second. Third place went to Miami (97). The women's field consisted of 14 teams and 16 teams competed for the men's championships. Ashland was the highest placing non-Division I team for both the men and women.
