Senior Ally Farrah and freshman Dayna Denner of Ashland University softball are second-team All-Midwest region honorees, as the Division II Conference Commissioner Association (D2CCA) teams were released on Monday (May 15).
Denner, as a first-teamer, and Farrah, second team, earned All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Wednesday (May 10).
Also a first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection, Farrah primarily batted second and played center field for the Eagles. She led Ashland and finished seventh in the conference with a .402 batting average. She was second in the GLIAC with a school-record 31 stolen bases. She was only caught stealing once.
Farrah also led AU and finished top-10 in the conference in hits (70), runs (37) and on-base percentage (.439). She led the Eagles with 174 at-bats, but only struck out nine times in 2017. Farrah was one of six GLIAC players with at least 50 total chances to complete the season with a 1.000 fielding percentage.
Denner, the GLIAC Freshman of the Year, was Ashland's primary leadoff hitter and third baseman. She led all GLIAC freshmen in batting average (.372), hits (61), runs (33), stolen bases (16) and on-base percentage (.440). Denner's four home runs and three triples are both tied for the most among the conference's freshmen, and her .543 slugging percentage slots her at No. 2.
