Four Eagles Earn All-GLIAC Softball Recognition

Four Ashland University softball players have earned All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors, as the 2016 All-GLIAC Softball Teams and Postseason Awards were released on Friday (April 29) during the first day of the GLIAC Tournament in Findlay, Ohio.

Senior first baseman Jen Moore is a first-team all-conference selection for the second season in a row. Going into the postseason, Moore is a .368 hitter with 12 doubles, two triples, five home runs and 37 RBIs.

Senior pitcher/designated player Sarah Alley earned second-team All-GLIAC recognition at the utility position. During the regular season, Alley was 15-8 with a 2.62 earned-run average and 104 strikeouts on the mound, and hit .328 with 29 RBIs at the plate.

Both junior center fielder Ally Farrah (.335, 15 RBIs, 34 runs scored, seven stolen bases) and freshman pitcher Hannah Stroe (5-6, one save, 3.94 ERA) earned All-GLIAC honorable mention.

The 2016 GLIAC special awards were earned by Wayne State junior pitcher Lyndsay Butler (Player of the Year), Grand Valley State freshman pitcher Allison Lipovsky (Freshman of the Year), Findlay sophomore pitcher Chelsea McManaway (Pitcher of the Year) and Hillsdale coach Joe Abraham (Coach of the Year).
