The Ashland University softball team was invited to the NCAA Division II playoffs on Monday morning (May 6). This is the fifth consecutive season the Eagles have reached the NCAA postseason.

The Eagles will play at Indianapolis. AU is the fifth seed in the eight team Midwest Region. Indy is the top seed, Lewis is the fourth seed and Wayne State is the eighth seed. At Indianapolis, Ashland will play Lewis on Friday (May 10) at noon.  At 2:30 p.m., on Friday, the host Greyhounds will play Wayne State.

Only two games will be played on Friday. Games will also be played on Saturday (May 11) and Sunday (May 12). This is a double elimination tournament. Games will be played on Saturday at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Play on Sunday begins at noon.

The other four teams in the Midwest Region are playing at Grand Valley State. The Lakers are the second overall seed in the region. The winners from this weekend's two regional tournaments will meet next weekend on the home field of the highest seed. AU reached the Super Regional final in 2010, losing to Wayne State at WSU.
