At Ashland: For the past three years Knerem has been one of the top pitchers in the nation. Few pitchers in school history have been as dominant as Knerem. In all three of her years at AU the Eagles have advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs. Last season, she was first team All-GLIAC and first team all-region (Daktronics). Knerem fired four no-hitters last season and has six in her career. Knerem begins the 2012 season second in career strikeouts (817) at AU. She’s third in career complete games (75) and wins (66) and fourth in innings pitched (603) and ERA (1.53). She is the program’s career leader in saves (7). Knerem had 13 shutouts last season, which put her second in the nation. She has 30 shutouts in her career. Throughout her career, Knerem has been a workhorse. Her 89 career starts rank fourth at AU. A year ago Knerem was ninth in the nation in strikeouts, 12th in victories and 17th in strikeouts per seven innings (9.1). In 2010, she was first team All-GLIAC, All-Midwest Region and was named a Daktronics second team All-America. That same season, Knerem pitched a pair of five-inning no-hitters. One of those was a perfect game at Lake Erie. The right-hander ranked sixth in the country in ERA (1.04), was seventh in strikeouts per seven innings (9.6) and saves (seven), 12th in shutouts (10), 13th in hits per seven innings (4.43) and 16th in strikeouts (267). In the GLIAC, Knerem was second in ERA, strikeouts, wins (23), games started (28), innings pitched (194.1) and opponent batting average (.180). As a sophomore, Knerem had the third best single-season ERA (1.04) in AU history. She had 27 complete games and 10 shutouts. As a freshman, Knerem was selected by the league coaches as the GLIAC freshman of the year (2009). Knerem was a first team All-GLIAC selection. She was second in the conference in strikeouts, fourth in wins and innings pitched and sixth in opponent batting average (.198). Knerem was named the GLIAC pitcher of the week once. She was named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region second team. Knerem had seven shutouts.
High School: In 2007 Knerem was 18-3. She struck out 280 batters that season and posted a 0.53 ERA. In 2007 Brunswick was the district runnerup. The Blue Devils won conference and district titles in 2006. During her career, Knerem was first team all-conference and all-district. She also earned All-Ohio laurels. She was the Medina County MVP.
Personal: The AU pitcher is the daughter of Barb and Chuck Knerem. She is a sport management major and is a two-time member of the GLIAC All-Academic Team.
