Ashland University's men's tennis team lost its home opener on Saturday (Feb. 2), 4-3, to Hillsdale.
The Eagles won one doubles match and earned their three points in singles, where they picked up three wins.
"Today, we fell short to a tough Hillsdale team," said Ashland head tennis coach Lexi Bolesky. "We worked through a bit of adversity, and look forward to getting back on the court to work to improve against Walsh"
The three Eagles to earn victories in singles play were Brdicka, Clark, and senior Stanislaw Grzeslo.
Brdicka won his match in the No. 2 doubles spot. He was dominant in the first set, a 6-2 win. After dropping the second set 6-4, Brdicka came back to win in the third, 10-6.
Clark won comfortably in the four singles slot, winning in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0. The final win for the Eagles in singles play came in five singles. Grzeslo won his match in comeback fashion. After dropping the first set 6-2, Grzeslo won the next two, 6-2, 10-5, to take the match.
Ashland will compete next on Feb. 10 at Walsh at 4 p.m.
