The Ashland University men's soccer team jumped up one spot to No. 6 in the latest release of the United Soccer Coaches Midwest Region rankings. Last week, the Eagles held firm at No. 7.
The Eagles (3-0) are coming off a 2-1 win over visiting Gannon last Saturday (Sept. 9) at Ferguson Field and have an unblemished record heading into Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this week.
Ashland, in its second season under head coach Oliver Slawson, since returning from a three-year hiatus, has scored eight goals over its first three games and surrendered just three, including only one in the run of play.
The Eagles will play GLIAC newcomer Davenport on Friday (Sept. 15). The Panthers advanced to the NAIA semifinals last season and won the 2014 NAIA national championship.
