Eagles Finish 16th at NCAA Super Regional

ASHLAND, Ohio – The Ashland University men's golf team finished in 16th place in the NCAA Midwest/South Central Regional Championships after completing the final round of the tournament Wednesday (May 9). The tournament was played at the Jefferson City Country Club in Jefferson City, Mo.

The Eagles carded an 18-over par 306 for the third straight day to finish with total of 918.

With the 16th place finish, the Eagles did not advance to the NCAA Championships. Ashland was the third-best finisher among GLIAC schools – Grand Valley State was sixth (887) and Ferris State finished tied for 10th (896).

Junior Brendan Jenkins (Dublin, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and senior Steven Bednar (Munroe Falls, Ohio/Stow) each finished the tournament at 12-over par. Jenkins fired a 3-over 75 on Wednesday.

Senior Jay Overy (Grafton, Ohio/Midview) also shot a 75 in the final round and finished 15-over par for the tournament. Junior Mark Scott (Bolivar, Ohio/Tuscarawas Valley) shot a 77 on Wednesday and was also 15-over over the 54-hole tournament.
