Darkness Halts Play at GLIAC Golf Championships

The Ashland University men's golf team was tied for eighth place at the end of play on Sunday (Oct. 2) at the 2011 GLIAC Championships. This year's event is being hosted by Ferris State at the Eagle Eye Golf Course in Bath, Mich.

Play was halted midway through the second round due to darkness. Only three teams – Ohio Dominican, Tiffin and Saginaw Valley State – were able to complete the second round.

When play was halted, AU had a team score of 307. Grand Valley State was first with a score of 290. Wayne State (296) was second.  The field includes 12 teams.

AU's Jay Overy (Grafton, Ohio/Midview) was seventh. He shot 147.

The tournament was slated to resume play on Monday (Oct. 3) at 8:30 a.m.
