The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced on Wednesday (July 12) morning that the Ashland University's men's basketball team has earned a 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award was created by the NABC Committee on Academics, and recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better.
Ashland's team GPA in the spring of 2017 was 3.05. This is the fourth time the Eagles have earned the honor in the five years it has been awarded.
Also in 2016-17, five Eagles – sophomore guard Nick Bapst, senior guard Adrian Cook, sophomore guard Ben Haraway, sophomore guard Jay Slone and junior forward Brandon Wagner – earned Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team laurels.
