As center and quarterback, Ashland University seniors Dominic Giunta and Travis Tarnowski are the two players who start every play for the Eagles' high-powered offense.

Giunta and Tarnowski continue to garner impressive offseason awards, as well. Following their selections on the first and second teams, respectively, on the 2017 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-America Football Team, Giunta and Tarnowski are first- and second-teamers, respectively, on the 2017 Associated Press Division II All-America Team.

Ashland's offensive duo are the first Eagles to make an AP All-America team (previously the Little All-America Team, encompassing Division II, Division III and NAIA) since current Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Jamie Meder in 2013. Giunta is the program's first first-team AP All-American since defensive end Sam Hohler in 1994.

Giunta was the anchor of an Eagle offensive line which allowed Ashland to average 33.4 points and 407.8 yards of offense per game in 2017. Earlier this offseason, Giunta, a three-year starter, also garnered D2CCA Super Region 3 first team, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year and first-team All-GLIAC honors.

Tarnowski threw for 3,044 yards and 31 touchdowns to just five interceptions in 2017, and completed 59 percent of his passes. He threw for two or more touchdowns in a game 10 times this fall, rushed for 156 yards and a score, and averaged 36.9 yards on 36 punts. Earlier this year, Tarnowski, who started every game of his career, was named first-team American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America, D2CCA Super Region 3 Offensive Player of the Year, GLIAC Player of the Year, first-team All-GLIAC and a Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II Player of the Year) nominee.

Giunta and Tarnowski led an offense which helped the Eagles to a GLIAC championship, the second round of the NCAA Division II playoffs and an 11-2 overall record.

The Associated Press Division II All-America Team was selected by a panel of sports information directors from around the country.
