Digging Deep And Flying High - Week 5 Eagle Football Stats

If last week's offensive fireworks looked familiar, that's because they are familiar.

Ashland University's football team put up 40 points and 495 yards of offense without turning the ball over in its 40-28 victory on Saturday (Sept. 26) at home against Findlay. In head coach Lee Owens' 11-plus seasons guiding the Eagles, that wasn't the first time the team had scored at least 40 points, ran up at least 475 yards on offense and didn't turn the ball over:

The 150/200 Rushing Combo

Junior tailback Vance Settlemire has had back-to-back rushing games of 152 and 210 yards at home against Ohio Dominican and Findlay, respectively.

The last AU runner to have at least 150 and 200 yards in back-to-back games was the program's all-time leading rusher, Anthony Taylor, in November of 2013 – 152 at Findlay on Nov. 2, then 237 at home against Tiffin on Nov. 9.

Taking The Long Way Home

Of the Eagles' seven scoring drives in the win against the Oilers, five chewed up at least 61 yards. Ashland has seen many long-distance scoring drives already in 2015:
