Former Ashland University standout defensive tackle Jamie Meder was signed Tuesday (Nov. 11) to the practice squad of the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

Meder, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound rookie, was on the practice squad of the Baltimore Ravens for the first 10 weeks of the 2014 NFL season. He was released by the Ravens Monday (Nov. 10). Meder originally signed with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent, but was released on the team's final cut on Labor Day Weekend.

In four preseason games with Baltimore, Meder saw action in 54 plays (47 on defense, seven on special teams) and recorded four total tackles (two solos, two assists) and a pass breakup.

Meder was a two-time All-American, including a first-team American Football Coaches Association citation in 2013, for the Eagles. He was a four-time first-team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference selection, was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2010 and the league's Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 2012 and 2013.

In four seasons at Ashland (2010-13), Meder recorded 247 total tackles (96 solos), 14 sacks and 35 tackles for loss.
