Sittinger Earns Third Midwest Pitcher Of The Year Award

All-Midwest Region baseball teams are released by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA), National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).

Ashland University junior right-handed pitcher Brandyn Sittinger has been named the Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year by all three organizations. Sittinger added the ABCA/Rawlings honor late Monday (May 24).

Sittinger was 11-0 with a 2.23 earned-run average in 14 appearances (13 starts) in 2016. In 88 2/3 innings, he struck out 131 and allowed 65 hits, 27 runs (22 earned) and 40 walks.

Sittinger and sophomore third baseman J.P. Sorma each earned All-Midwest Region first-team honors. Sorma finished 2016 hitting .381 with 17 home runs (second on AU's single-season list), 11 doubles, 51 runs scored and 59 RBIs. He will take a 29-game hitting streak into 2017.

Junior designated hitter Lance Myers earned second-team region honors following a .345 season with 43 runs scored, 15 doubles, two homers and 39 RBIs.
