Eagles Begin Florida Trip With 6-1 Win Over Lewis

Ashland University's baseball team began its annual Florida trip on Friday (March 4) with a 6-1 win over Lewis.

The Eagles received a combined six-hitter with 15 strikeouts and no walks from three pitchers – senior Jake Baldwin (five innings, five hits, one unearned run and 10 strikeouts), senior David Kretschmar (two innings, one hit and four strikeouts) and sophomore Luke Smith (two innings, one strikeout).

Ashland scored single runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings, then a three-spot in the seventh. In the Eagles' 11-hit attack, senior Mike Lewandowski was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, junior Lance Myers was 2-for-4 with an RBI and senior Nick Edwards and sophomore Greg Ludwig each added two hits.

The Eagles (2-2) will continue the Florida games on Saturday (March 5) at 1:30 p.m. against Pace.
