Ashland University senior second baseman Stephen James is the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Baseball South Division Player of the Week for the second time in a row.
In the recently-completed four-game home series against Tiffin, James was 10-for-15 at the plate with six doubles, two home runs, 10 runs scored and 11 RBIs. He had three multi-hit and multi-extra-base-hit games, including a 5-for-5, three-double, one-home run, five-RBI effort in Game 1 on Saturday (April 4).
James leads the GLIAC in all three Triple Crown categories – batting average (.432), home runs (six) and RBIs (30), and also leads the conference in runs scored (37), doubles (11) and slugging percentage (.821).
The AU baseball team (21-7 overall, 10-2 GLIAC, 8-0 GLIAC South Division) will travel to Lake Erie for a GLIAC doubleheader on Wednesday (April 8).
