Ashland University right-hander Jake Baldwin (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) is this week's GLIAC pitcher of the week. The conference office announced the award today.
Baldwin had one start last week and it was superb. At Grand Valley State, he blanked the Lakers, 1-0. He held GVSU to four hits. That was Baldwin's third consecutive complete game shutout. He has not allowed a run in his last four starts. In the start prior to this string of complete games, he pitched a combined shutout at Lake Erie. The opposition is hitting .225 against the sophomore this season.
Baldwin is 5-0. He is the GLIAC leader in ERA (1.31) and is fourth in strikeouts (49).
The Eagles have three home dates this coming week. The first of those is this Wednesday (May 1, 2 p.m.) when Findlay comes to town for a doubleheader.
