Avery Featured in NCAA's Champion Magazine

Ashland University baseball player Ryan Avery (Berea, OH/Cuyahoga C.C.) is featured on the cover of the current edition of the NCAA Magazine, "Champion." The magazine, which is an official publication of the NCAA, was released today. 

            In addition to the photo on the cover, a feature story on Avery is included in the magazine. The magazine piece talks about Avery's goals for the future.  The junior, who has been a starting outfielder for the last two seasons, is a sports management major.  The photos and the story can be found at ncaa.org.

            Avery hit .379 in 2010 with six homers and 45 RBI. He was second on the team in batting average and third in RBI.  In 2009, Avery hit .358 with four home runs and 36 RBI. Avery has been named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honorable mention list in 2009 and 2010.

             Avery is playing in a collegiate league this summer for a team based in Cooperstown, NY.

            AU was 35-22 in 2010 and advanced to the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament.
