Cheerleading and Dance Team Information
AU Cheerleading
A talented group of
AU Eagle Cheerleaders provide the lift and energy for Eagle
athletes and fans. The varsity squad consists of sixteen female
members that cheer at all football games and all home basketball
games. The varsity squad also accompanies the teams to any NCAA
tournament games. Each girl on the varsity squad is awarded a $500
scholarship.
The junior varsity squad has ten female members that cheer at all
home football games and all home women's basketball games. No
traveling is required.
Both squads practice twice per week for two hours per practice.
Practices are held on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
All cheerleaders attend a summer stunting camp held here at AU to
learn and sharpen their skills. Following camp, in preparation for
the upcoming season, practice is held before classes resume.
Anyone who has been accepted to Ashland University by the tryout
date may participate. Tumbling is not mandatory for the tryout, but
it is helpful.
The tryouts for the 2013-2014 Cheerleading Squad will be held in March 22 & 23, 2013.
Ashland University participates in NCAA Division II athletics and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
