Ashland University athletics' Tuffy's Trick or Treat once again will be a part of downtown Ashland's Costume Capers, Oct. 23 at 5 p.m.

The Eagle men's basketball, women's basketball and cheerleading teams will be downtown passing out candy until 6:30 p.m.

For Ashland men's basketball head coach John Ellenwood and his squad, this will be the 10th time they have been a part of Tuffy's Trick or Treat – something which Ellenwood started when he first came to campus. The event has moved over the years from Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field to Kates Gymnasium to Redwood Hall to, now, downtown as part of the bigger city-wide pre-Halloween gathering.

"We are excited to be helping out with this event for our tenth year," Ellenwood said. "It is such a fun way to connect with the community right before the start of our season."

AU women's hoops head coach Kari Pickens and Eagle cheerleading head coach Denise Farnsworth both enjoy being a part of the annual community event.

"Being a part of Tuffy's Trick or Treat is one of our favorite ways to invest in a community that is so invested in us," Pickens said. "This will be a great way to connect with the people who help make our program great."

Said Farnsworth, "You can see the excitement that the kids and community members have to interact with our student-athletes during Costume Capers. Our ability to serve our community is something that benefits all of us here at Ashland University, and provides opportunities for AU Cheer and Dance team members to become stronger leaders."
