For the 12th consecutive season, Ashland University's athletic department has finished second in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Presidents' Trophy (all-sports) standings, as announced by the conference on Thursday (May 25) morning.

In 2016-17, the Eagles finished with 153.0 overall points – 85.5 women and 67.5 men. Ashland won GLIAC championships in women's basketball and men's outdoor track and field.

In its 22 seasons as a GLIAC member, Ashland has won three Presidents' Trophies (1995-96 through 1997-98), has finished second 17 times, and finished third and fourth once each.

GLIAC Presidents' Trophy standings are based on final regular-season standings except for the following sports that are based on conference tournament finish – cross country, golf, indoor track & field, outdoor track & field and swimming & diving.

The Presidents' Trophy, commonly referred to as the All-Sports Trophy, is awarded at the end of each year of competition to the conference member having demonstrated general excellence in all or most sports. The award is designed to promote well-rounded athletic programs within each member institution.
